General Information

  • Abstract Due Date: Submit all abstracts by 11:59pm Mountain Standard Time on Friday, September 15, 2017.
  • Please read carefully! There is opportunity for posters as well as formal presentations in front of the Symposium audience.
  • Any nurse, resident, researcher (non physician), or attending physician in Arizona, another state in the United States, and other countries, are eligible to submit an Abstract to be considered for approval for a poster or a podium presentation in front of the Symposium audience. Our Injury Prevention category was a great success in 2016 and we’re bringing it back in 2017!
  • CLARIFICATION FOR SURGICAL RESIDENTS IN ARIZONA – In the past, the Arizona Chapter of the ACS Resident Competition was held in conjunction with our event, the Southwest Trauma & Acute Care Symposium (STACS). This year they are in separate locations, held on different days, and are distinct and separate events. You may submit your abstract for consideration for a poster and/or podium presentation at STACS as well as the ACS-AZ competition!! Again, they are distinct events this year and acceptance at one does not influence or inhibit acceptance at the other. You must submit separately to be considered for both.
    • STACS – Your abstract will be considered for presentation with all other abstracts submitted to the Arizona Trauma Association (not just the Arizona surgical residents). Submit your abstract using the online form no later than midnight Mountain Standard Time on September 15, 2017.
    • ACS-AZ – see the ACS-AZ website for details on submission. www.azacs.org/information/information1.html
  • On the online abstract form YOU MUST indicate whether your submission is for:
    • Audience (podium) presentation only
    • Poster, if audience (podium) presentation is not approved by the Committee
    • Poster presentation only
  • Those abstracts accepted for poster or audience presentations will be notified by October 13, 2017.
  • The presenting author should be listed first in the order of authors. All communications will be directed to the presenting author only.
  • An individual may submit more than one abstract.
  • Failure to register and pay for the conference will disqualify the abstract from audience presentation or poster placement. You must be in attendance to present your work and compete for prizes.
